Inspiration Unintentionally

For one of my projects, I am working on a self promotional piece/ portfolio piece. The piece is suppose to be a unique calendar with different typefaces as the design. Well, ole Lucy, aka my Portfolio Professor decides that I need to make a polyhedron instead of a simple book with a rip out poster. So we print out the template and I start folding, and my classmates start folding, and then Lucy starts folding. Needless to say, nobody could figure out the stupid thing, and this is suppose to be a user friendly operation! So, in a half angry gesture, but more jokingly, I ball and crumple the piece of paper up. My friend Colin states, "haha office origami." This my promotional calendar will be a booklet of origami paper with instructions on how to create balls of trash.

Early bird gets the worm

Got up early on Friday to get a jump start on Screen Printing. No pun intended on the bird part since we all know Don loves birds.

Orbit

Put my new designs to a new word. I cannot even imagine all the things I am going to do with this word. The 3D aspect has just blown my mind and it is honestly nice to be designing something I like and that I am having fun with as a pose to it is just for school. I hope the rest of my projects start going smoothly like this.

working in 3D. Not so bad.

Close to being done. Probably some minor tweeks but I have enjoyed watching my original typeface go from a flat design to a 3D esc typeface for a poster. I hope to illustrate several words using it. Things like water, fire, stone, ect.

Molecule in 3D?

Found some tutorials online on how to make use an opacity mask in illustrator and I must say I am very pleased with the results. Please remember this is an ARTISTIC typeface meant for TYPE POSTER design. Let's not act like were 5. It is suppose to take some INTELLECT to understand it. The point is to have to study it. This is not the final product but pretty darn close. I still need to figure out what to do to the white cut outs.

Skulls lead to chemistry

A molecule is an electrically neutral group of at least two atoms held together by covalent chemical bonds. Molecules are distinguished from ions by their electrical charge. However, in quantum physics, organic chemistrty, and biochemimistry the term molecule is often used less strictly and applied to polyatomic atoms.

This is the design for my new typeface "Molecule." The idea actually started with a sketch of a cartoon skull. Then I noticed the eyes and the form of the skull made three distinct circles, to some degree. So, I remembered 5th grade chemistry and how I use to draw a H20 molecule with 3 circles. I did some research on molecules and started by trying to only use 3 circles but lets be honest, that would account for a crappy typeface. So I added circles and am still in the process of editing. The purpose of this typeface is for type posters, showcaseing elements, and could possibly be used on an enviormental product or medical product. Feedback is welcomed!
